Furutan Book 2 Lesson What is a Baha'i?

To be a Baha'i is to be the embodiment of all human virtues.- Abdu'l Baha
To believe and follow Baha'u'llah's Teaching for this wonderful new age! :)

Furutan Bk2-L5 What's a Bahai

Furutan Book 2 Lesson 16 Kindness to Animals

Finally a new post for a class :)

This class talks about how harming animals is actually worse than harming human beings, because human can express their grief and complain, but animals cannot.

Unless ye must,
Bruise not the serpent in the dust,
How much less wound a man.
And if ye can,
No ant should ye alarm,
Much less a brother.
– Abdu'l-Bahá

Have fun colouring :)

Ruhi Book 3 Lesson 7 Steadfastness

I found an alternative quotation to learn the virtue of steadfastness. Something the children can relate to.
"..become as steadfast and immovable as the mountain in His cause." - Baha'u'llah

Option 1: You can let the children colour the worksheet.

Option 2: Collage - You can prepare some teared-up coloured paper to stick on the mountain and sun & put some glue on the clouds and glue some cotton wool on them.

Ruhi Book 3 - Summarised Stories

Have you come across difficulty in trying to tell the stories of Ruhi Book 3 to younger children?

Here's a life saver! Our dear Aunty Peng has summarised the stories of Ruhi Book 3 and here's for you to download. I've added some clip arts for the first 3 stories to help the children visualize the stories. Most have never seen a Camel pulling a cart or a 'crowded' bus from the middle east.
You can continue to do for the rest, just search for the images in google. :) have fun!

Dedicating to all mothers out there with love...

O ye loving mothers, know ye that in God's sight, the best of all ways to worship Him is to educate the children and train them in all the perfections of humankind; and no nobler deed than this can be imagined. (Selections from the Writings of Abdu'l-Baha)

O handmaid of God!... To the mothers must be given the divine Teachings and effective counsel, and they must be encouraged and made eager to train their children, for the mother is the first educator of the child. It is she who must, at the very beginning, suckle the newborn at the breast of God's Faith and God's Law, that divine love may enter into him even with his mother's milk, and be with him till his final breath. (Abdu'l-Baha, Selections from the Writings of Abdu'l-Baha, p. 138)

Let the mothers consider that whatever concerneth the education of children is of the first importance. Let them put forth every effort in this regard, for when the bough is green and tender it will grow in whatever way ye train it. Therefore is it incumbent upon the mothers to rear their little ones even as a gardener tendeth his young plants. Let them strive by day and by night to establish within their children faith and certitude, the fear of God, the love of the Beloved of the worlds, and all good qualities and traits. Whensoever a mother seeth that her child hath done well, let her praise and applaud him and cheer his heart; and if the slightest undesirable trait should manifest itself, let her counsel the child and punish him, and use means based on reason, even a slight verbal chastisement should this be necessary. It is not, however, permissible to strike a child, or vilify him, for the child's character will be totally perverted if he be subjected to blows or verbal abuse. (Abdu'l-Baha, Selections from the Writings of Abdu'l-Baha, p. 124)

Happy Mothers' Day!

Here's dedicating a lovely quotation to all mothers out there:
O ye loving mothers, know ye that in God's sight, the best of all ways to worship Him is to educate the children and train them in all the perfections of humankind; and no nobler deed than this can be imagined.
(Abdu'l-Baha, Selections from the Writings of Abdu'l-Baha, p. 138)

Here's a picture of the art and craft we did.

Here's how:

DRIED FLOWER/LEAVES
If you have time you can pluck some flowers and leaves and put them in a book for about 1 week until the flowers/leaves dries. But I doubt we have so much time to prepare in our busy life. So here's a short cut I learnt from one of those Art n Craft TV shows.
What you need: 2 pieces of tiles, kitchen paper towel, assorted leaves and flowers, microwave
Here's how:
1. Arrange the fresh flowers/leaves on the paper towel, do not overlap as they will stick together.
2. Place the paper towel and flowers/leaves in between the 2 tiles-sandwich them together and put on 1 min high.
3. Take it out to check if flowers/leaves are dried up, they should be dried just nice. Some flowers have more moisture you may have to heat it for another 30 seconds or so. Do not over 'cook' it as it becomes brittle and breaks into piece.
Your flowers and leaves are ready!

PAPER
What you need: A4 coloured paper, Gift Wrapper-used, Glue and Scissors
Here's how:
Paper 1) Cut a A4 coloured paper into 2
Paper 2) Cut a used gift wrapper into size 12 cm by 17cm
Paper 3) Cut another A4 paper into 4
Paste the above together

I printed Happy Mother's Day word and a poem prayer (not a Baha'i Prayer but it has wonderful meaning, you can replace this by choosing other quotations. I found from this website call Danielle's Place Crafts and Activities. It is a great resource for crafts too.)

Our thanks, O God, for our mothers,
Help them to follow thee.
And give them glad and trusting hearts.
May they find strength in thee.
By Joanna McKinney

Note - The poem can also be song to the tune of Amazing Grace.
